The Expert Panel provided the Minister for Planning with its Final Report and 113 recommendations in April 2023. Importantly, the Panel’s view is that the planning system is working well, and the evidence provided throughout the public consultation indicated there is broad support for the new regime.
During the March 2022 State Election, an election commitment was made to commission an independent review of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the Planning and Design Code to ensure planning decisions encourage a more liveable, competitive and sustainable long-term growth strategy for Greater Adelaide and the regions.
In 2022, the Minister for Planning, Hon. Nick Champion MP, commissioned an independent panel of planning experts to conduct a review of reforms to the planning system implementation
The Panel’s consultation period has closed, with the final date for submissions being Friday 16 December 2022.
The Panel considered all of the submissions it received and made recommendations to the Minister for Planning in April 2023. The Government is carefully considering the recommendations and will release the Panel’s report, together with its response to the recommendations, in 2024.
