Have your say on a proposal to realign a portion of a suburb boundary and create a new suburb in Adelaide’s south

Published Thursday, 22 October 2026

The South Australian Government is seeking community feedback on a proposal to establish a new suburb, to be known as South Beach, through the realignment of part of the existing Lonsdale suburb boundary.

The former Port Stanvac refinery site is planned to become a new 230-hectare master-planned mixed-use community comprising approximately 3,600 homes, employment land, public open space, community facilities and transport connections. The proposed suburb name and boundary realignment would help create a distinct identity for the future community.

Community consultation is being undertaken in accordance with the Geographical Names Act 1991 and will help inform recommendations from the Surveyor-General before the matter is considered by the Minister for Planning.

All submissions received during the consultation period will be considered before a final decision is made.

Have your say

Consultation is open until Monday 23 November 2026.
