State developments

These notified state developments are submitted to the State Planning Commission for processing. The State Commission Assessment Panel (SCAP) undertakes development assessment on behalf of the State Planning Commission.

Developments include:

  • Crown developments proposed by the State
  • Impact Assessed development
  • Restricted development
  • Developments for which the State Planning Commission is the relevant authority under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

When you have your say about a development application, this is called submitting a representation.

To submit a representation, download the documentation provided below for the application. The documentation includes a pre-filled representation form that you can print and complete.

After completing your form, submit your representation to:

Impact assessed development

Developments that have been declared as impact assessed by the Minister, or prescribed by regulations.

Restricted development

Developments that have been identified as Restricted in the Planning and Design Code. The State Planning Commission is the relevant authority for restricted development.

Members of the public and neighbors who have been notified of restricted development can have their say on the proposed development.

Developments undertaken on behalf of a State agency that exceed a threshold development cost and are assessed by the Minister.

All South Australians can have their say about Crown developments that are notified.

State Planning Commission-assessed developments

Developments where the State Planning Commission is the relevant authority, as set out by the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016.

These developments may be publicly notified, depending on their category/classification and any exclusions in the Planning and Design Code.

Where development is classified as performance assessed and requires notification, neighbours who have received a letter/email or seen a sign on the development site can have their say about the development.
