This Ministerial Building Standard (MBS 013) establishes the minimum requirements that apply where development approval is required for electrical vehicle charging stations in covered or underground areas.
From 1 July 2026, electric vehicle charging stations are generally excluded from the definition of development, except (amongst other things) where they are located in an underground or covered area and are not associated with a Class 1 building under the Building Code.
For the purposes of section 52(1) of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 this statutory instrument has been certified by the Chief Executive.
