The City of Onkaparinga Local Heritage Code Amendment has been adopted by the Minister for Planning.
The Code Amendment applied the Local Heritage Place Overlay to 42 properties together with the associated Heritage Adjacency Overlay, de-listed 18 places and made amendments to the listing details of 24.
The Code Amendment was based on the Heritage Survey Review Stage 3 Final Report (July 2022) including Thematic History and Heritage Assessment Reports (Heritage Survey Datasheets) undertaken by Grieve Gillett Andersen.
The report sought to provide a comprehensive heritage review of the council area and represents the first city-wide review since amalgamation of the three Councils in 1997 (Noarlunga, Willunga and Happy Valley).
No changes were made to the existing, underlying zoning or Technical and Numeric Variations (TNVs).
In response to submissions received during engagement three properties were removed from proposed local heritage listing:
Olive trees at 302 Cherry Gardens Road, Cherry Gardens
River Red Gum tree at 47 Booth Street, Happy Valley
33 Cut Hill Road, Kangarilla
Two Local Heritage Places proposed for delisting were retained:
Market Reserve, Old Noarlunga
Star of Greece café, Port Willunga.
