Overview

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is proposing to rezone the central part of Kilburn and Blair Athol, to reduce the current allowable density of new housing, and make new houses more compatible with the established residential character of each suburb.

 

The affected area is currently zoned as an Urban Renewal Neighbourhood Zone, and it contains some 2,500 blocks of land. Most of these blocks contain existing housing.

 

In seeking a new zoning, adjusted requirements for new housing designs will be explored, including those for building heights, the width of new house blocks, site coverage, and building setbacks from property boundaries.

 

The zoning change does not seek to prevent the large-scale regeneration of ageing Housing Trust properties that is already taking place in the northern reaches of these suburbs.
