Statutory instruments

South Australia's planning and development system includes statutory instruments to support processes for development assessment, infrastructure management and policy planning.

The Planning and Design Code is the cornerstone of the system and replaces all development plans as the single source of planning policy for the state.

The Code realises the strategic vision of the State Planning Policies and is supported by Practice Directions and Practice Guidelines.

The Department for Housing and Urban Development acknowledges and respects Aboriginal peoples as the state's First Peoples and nations and recognises Aboriginal peoples as Traditional Owners and occupants of lands and waters in South Australia.
