This Ministerial Building Standard (MBS 009) sets out cost-effective solutions for onsite stormwater retention.
The provisions of this standard apply to Class 1 and 2 dwellings, and Class 10a buildings associated with Class 1 and 2 structures (as defined by the Building Code), where the relevant authority has directed that provision for retention must be built-in as part of the stormwater drainage system.
Ministerial Building Standards form part of the Building Rules which are used to assess a development application for building consent. All standards must be read in conjunction with the requirements of the Planning, Development and Infrastructure (General) Regulations 2017.
