Limestone Coast Regional Plan

Closed 17 June 2025, 11:59 pm

The Limestone Coast is known for its diverse landscapes, rich agriculture, and world-class wine production. The region’s fertile soils support dairy farming, beef production, and cropping, while the famous Coonawarra and Padthaway wine regions produce premium wines. The coastline and unique geological features, including the Blue Lake and limestone caves, attract visitors, along with the region’s strong First Nations cultural heritage. Fishing, forestry, and tourism also play a key role in the local economy.

The Limestone Coast Regional Plan identifies land and long-term infrastructure needs to support sustainable growth within the region, over a 15-to-30-year period. It reflects the unique and changing profile of the region’s population, environment and economy across its vast rural areas and varied townships.
